What interested you in becoming a part of the Couture USA team?
I was looking to start a new chapter in life and was searching for a new opportunity. I have previously owned a retail store, worked in publishing, and worked in luxury retail. I knew it was time for a new venture and I thought that Couture USA would be a great learning experience for me. I was excited to take on that challenge.
What would you say are the most important factors in providing customers with an excellent shopping experience?
The shopping experience should be fun and the customer should leave our store excited about their purchase every time. My thought process behind customer service is that if I help the customer to find something special that they love, then they will always come back to shop with us again. I love to extend my customers wardrobe and provide them with knowledge about products that they didn’t know.
Who do you look to as a fashion icon?
When I was younger, I would have to say it was Edith Head. I loved the way she styled celebrities. Coco Chanel is another favorite for obvious reasons. She set the standard for everything in women’s fashion. Lastly, I adore Donna Karen. Her simplicity and use of fabrics makes every woman feel like they could wear her clothes and feel confident in them.
What are some of your favorite things about your position as a luxury sales consultant?
I love that everyone on the Couture USA team is so passionate and knowledgeable about their work. I love helping people, especially when it’s such a warm and welcoming environment. When clients walk into our boutique, you can tell they are excited about looking at our merchandise and that makes me excited to come to work everyday.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a career in fashion?
Don’t quit. Luxury sales is not an easy field to be in, but if your passionate about it, it’s well worth it. Almost every aspect of the fashion industry is difficult and competitive but that shouldn’t deter you from reaching your goals. Everyday you should be learning something new, no matter what it is.
From your experience in retail what are some of the most important lesson you’ve learned?
Always be honest with your customers. Treat your clients as you would want to be treated. Also, knowing your product and merchandise is the incredibly important. You can’t sell something to the best of your ability without knowing the history.
What shopping or fashion trends are you currently seeing among clients at Couture USA?
I see a lot of Louis Vuitton purchases. Louis Vuitton handbags never go out of style. I see lots Chanel purchases amongst clients as well. It is an icon fashion brand to add to any collection. I believe that the pieces we sell are investments. What you purchase today is an investment in your forever expanding and changing wardrobe.
What’s the most challenging and rewarding parts of working in a customer service role?
The biggest challenge is constantly keeping up with the products and trends. The knowledge we have about our products allows us to better help our clients. However, the feeling you have after helping a client that is happy with their purchase is extremely rewarding. I love helping people, and forming strong relationships with my customers.
